Robin Aircraft for Travelling

An exceptionally comfortable and economical 4-place cross-country aircraft:

The Robin Aircraft DR401/155CDI combines simplicity, comfort and safety with dramatically improved cost-effectiveness and reduced noise and vibration levels compared to aircraft with petrol engines.

The 155CDI combines the famous qualities of the Robin DR401 airframe with a highly efficient, economical, quiet and reliable engine. Sixteen times more reliable than Avgas engines1, Continental diesel engines use Jet A-1, automotive diesel and most military jet fuels all in any mixture, guaranteeing worldwide availability of fuel.

Electronically managed, fuel injected and liquid cooled, the thoroughly modern Continental aero-engines are free of the dangers of carburettor icing and vapour lock, and safe from thermal shock on low power settings. Turbocharging maintains power delivery at altitude, allowing a
ceiling of 16,500 feet, and the automatic variable pitch three-bladed propellor ensures optimum performance both in climb and cruise. Further enhancing safety, a separate radiator for cabin heating eliminates the risk of carbon monoxide toxicity.

With 15% more power and 21% more torque for the same empty weight than the 135CDI,
the Robin Aircraft 2·0S 155 hp can reach an impressive 440 kg of load; putting some larger aircraft to shame. The improved climb rate and cruise performance still comes with economy—24 litres per hour of Jet A-1 at 75% cruise power.

100 hour / 12 month (whichever is the sooner) checks mean more time in the air, less on the ground: clearly attractive to serious tourers. Add in the option of a tow hook and a rear view mirror to the quiet operation, no shock cooling, and long maintenance intervals and it is easy to see why the 155CDI also has become a favourite of gliding clubs.

Fuel capacity is 109 litres with an option of a 50 litre supplementary tank. An external luggage compartment door is standard.
  1. In-flight shutdown rate 0·61 per 100,000 flight hours compared to 10 per 100,000 flight hours for other GA piston engines overall. Source: FAA via Continental Motors.
A comprehensively equipped full adult four seater for touring:

The Robin Aircraft DR401/160A is a 4-seat certified cross-country aircraft offering a great combination of high performance, comfort, operating economy and a ceiling of 13,500 feet.

It has superior cruising speeds and range compared to most of its competitors and its fixed gear and fixed-pitch propellor makes it easy to handle. It has three fuel tanks (one 109 litre main tank and paired 40 litre wing-root tanks) giving 189 litre of total capacity. An external luggage door is part of the standard equipment and a 50 litre supplementary tank is an option.
A high performance adult four seater for cross-country flying:

With an 1,100 kg MTOW, up to 490 kg of useful load, and 180 hp, the Robin Aircraft DR401/180 combines high performance and comfort with easy 4-seat cross-country capability. It has a practical ceiling of 14,720 feet.

It has superior cruising speeds and range compared to most of its competitors and its fixed gear and fixed-pitch propellor makes it easy to handle. Three fuel tanks with 189 litre total capacity (one 109 litre main tank and two 40 litre wing-root tanks) and an external luggage compartment door is part of the standard equipment. A 50 litre supplementary tank is an option.

The aircraft can be ordered with a constant speed propellor as the DR401/180ACS.
The most powerful DR401 in the range:

At the top of the petrol range, the Robin Aircraft DR401 200AI offers an impressive combination of power and comfort for those who want a fuel-injected petrol engine and the best climb rate in the range. The long-range version has a fuel capacity of 189 litres (a 109 litre main tank and two 40 litre wing-root tanks) expandable to 249 litres with the addition of the optional 50 litres supplementary tank.

The 'Country' version has no wing tanks, so 109 litres as standard, a high lift / low drag wing profile and a two-blade CS propeller. A 50 litre supplementary tank is optional.

Both versions have an external luggage compartment door as standard.
